13 Most Common Questions I Get Asked

Q: How would you describe your style?

I like to think of my style as natural and true to life with an editorial twist. My photography tells a story and captures moments you can feel for years to come.

Q: Will you be the one shooting my wedding? What if you get sick?

Yes I will be the only one shooting your wedding unless I have a second shooter. If for some reason I get sick and cannot make it (never has happened in the 6+ years I have worked) then I have associate shooters that can take my place. Associate shooters are photographers that I hire whom have a similar style to mine; the photos will still be edited by me in my style.

Q: How long have you been shooting weddings? How many weddings have you shot?

I have been shooting weddings since 2018. I specialize in small weddings and destination elopements but also love shooting big extravagant weddings if the couple shares the same vision as me.

Q: Can we see full galleries?

Of course! Check it out here: https://www.nickpatton.photos/wedding-galleries

Q: Are we able to have a videographer? Do you work with them?

If hiring a videographer is within your budget, it is 100% worth it. I work well with anyone and ensure that both the videographer and I get every shot we need for you.

Q: Will we have rights to the images? Do we need to use you for prints?

I provide print rights to all of my couples which means that you are able to print the photos anywhere you would like. My print shop comes with a discount code if you decide to print through me.

Q: Can we request a specific list of shots we want?

Though I don’t take shot lists that include traditional shots, I am here to capture specific unconventional shots or specific shots you want me to highlight in your gallery.

Q: How do you go about shooting at a venue you haven’t shot at before?

I find most of my inspiration with new places. Before each wedding, I scout the area to let my creativity flow to gain ideas of where I want each set of shots to be at based on light, color, texture and storytelling. Enjoy your day and leave it to me to capture everything.

Q: How did you get into shooting weddings?

I have always loved being creative. From acting in commercials and theatre plays in college, I decided to take up photography as a creative outlet in my mid-twenties. I fell in love with capturing my eye for things and sharing it with the world. Once I started shooting weddings I fell even more in love with capturing the storytelling of each couple and what makes them unique. It is still my passion and I wouldn’t want to do anything else.

Q: How do you pose couples? We are new at this.

This is my favorite question. My approach with posing is very natural and prompt based. Trust me- you won’t feel like you are posing, you will feel as though you are enjoying your day with natural and candid moments. I will of course help pose you for those badass shots.

Q: Do you do this full time?

Yes! I have been a full-time wedding and destination elopement photographer for 3 years. I am very lucky for what I do.

Q: How far in advance do we need to book you?

Usually I book between 6-12 months in advance. Once you have your wedding venue booked you can contact me to get started! After you book your photographer, your videographer, rentals and florists should be next to secure.

Q: Do you retouch images and/or remove blemishes?

I retouch all of the images and remove any temporary blemishes you may have so you will look your best!
